I'm pretty sure privoxy will work fine even if it can't access its log file.
You just won't get a log, of course.

The relevant permissions on this (F8) machine are:

drwx--x--x 2 privoxy privoxy 4096 2008-10-08 04:02 /var/log/privoxy

-rw-r--r-- 1 privoxy privoxy 509743 2008-10-09 11:39 logfile
