As long as you are going to top reply...I wouldn't call it a major
install kind of thing and I would venture that ruby is already installed
on that server, but the packages that I use on my fedora development
system are:

# rpm -qa|grep ruby
ruby-libs-1.8.6.230-4.fc9.i386
ruby-rdoc-1.8.6.230-4.fc9.i386
ruby-1.8.6.230-4.fc9.i386
ruby-irb-1.8.6.230-4.fc9.i386
ruby-ri-1.8.6.230-4.fc9.i386
ruby-devel-1.8.6.230-4.fc9.i386
ruby-mode-1.8.6.230-4.fc9.i386
ruby-ldap-0.9.7-5.fc9.i386

and of course, your sql db of choice and apache (both would normally be
part of any LAMP setup)
