I "fixed" this firstly by running pan together with strace: strace pan and this worked a little time for me. Short time later this also didn't worked for me. So I removed PAN from my system with yum remove pan and installed it again with yum install pan. Since this time, PAN is working very well. I hope this will also works for you. If not, then maybe you can try a newer pan version (from fc9 maybe).
