If the metadata were stale, Yum would not see lots of new packages [from
July even] as shown by the OP at the beginning of this thread.

Btw, please don't suggest "yum clean all" for metadata problems. Better is
to recommend "yum clean metadata dbcache" which does not remove cached
packages.
