if you run system-config-services from a terminal is there any output that might indicate the error that you must be getting? Or is there anything in the /var/log/messages file that might indicate some problem?

I did a tail on /var/log/messages, ran system-config-services and there is not
a single character written to the log file.

The errors in the logs that I am getting are:

Jul  9 13:39:44 bronze sendmail[8753]: sql_select option missing
Jul 9 13:39:44 bronze sendmail[8753]: auxpropfunc error no mechanism available Jul 9 13:39:44 bronze sendmail[8753]: auxpropfunc error invalid parameter supplied

But I don't see how these errors are related.

Did you run the system-config-services from a terminal or from a gui? If from a terminal, was there no stdout and/or stderr output? It's possible the selinux comment is affecting your ability to run the system-config-services as root. Try disabling selinux temporarily and then running system-config-services.
