X.org version is 1.4.99.902
Today I got some xorg/ati related  updates and its now looking really
good - no more of that grainy effect. I'm now running 6.8.0-14. To be
really certain that the update fixed it I should probably roll back
and check. But since its working fine I rather leave it as it is.

Finally, my big thanks to AMD/ATI and all the open source contributors
for giving radeon!
