As near as I can tell, all the "awk" command in there does is look
for the first line with "initdefault" in the 3rd ":" separated field,
and it isn't doing anything to ignore lines starting with '#'.

I don't know enough awk to say how to fix it though :-).

It probably should be reported as a bug against whatever package
owns /etc/event.d/rcS, which you can find with:

rpm -q -f /etc/event.d/rcS
