Updated F8 system to updates as of 6/12. On reboot the network interfaces would not start. The scripts in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts had been changed to assume DHCP. This is on a small cluster of machines used as a compute engine that does not connect to the internet. Fixed IPs are all that is needed. It is an unwarranted assumption that all systems are connected with a DHCP server!!!
