It is called the Linux DVDshrink in comparison to DvdShrink, the windows program. You can also use it in conjunction with wine as well. k9copy is for copying (and compressing) DVDs. The OP is asking about backing up data onto DVDs, a different issue. You can use 'tar' for this, with the --multi-volume option.
