Thanks, but it didn't help; nothing I do seems to get rid of this errant
cups F8 package. I was hoping maybe --skip-broken might be a temporary
workaround, but no:

$sudo yum -y --skip-broken update
[...]
Error: Missing Dependency: libldap-2.3.so.0 is needed by package
1:cups-1.3.7-2.fc8.i386 (updates) 

As I mentioned earlier, rpm doesn't see it, only yum:

$ rpm -aq | grep cups
libgnomecups-0.2.3-3.fc9.i386
cupsddk-drivers-1.2.3-4.fc9.i386
cups-1.3.7-1.fc9.i386
hal-cups-utils-0.6.16-3.fc9.i386
cups-libs-1.3.7-1.fc9.i386

I remain open to suggestions...
