Fedora XFCE Spin install questions

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I recently tried installing the F8 XFCE spin on my PII/366 128MB/4.5GB
laptop to see if I could get it to limp along a little longer before
junking it and ran into a few problems.

The first time it booted to the log-in screen (GDM I presume) and when
I click on the Fedora use it put the name in the username field and
would go no further. It also had a line saying something about
auto-logging in in "-2" seconds. I rebooted it and let it come up on
it's own and I got to the desktop. I double clicked the Install icon
and it worked on that for a before eventually giving up.

Is there a way to install this without going into the full desktop? I
assume that I ran out of memory even though I have a 500MB swap file
already partitioned on the disk.

I googled and didn't see a XFCE spin specific mailing list so I'm
hoping someone here can help.

Thanks,
Richard
