In order to use NetworkManager, you need to start the NetworkManager and NetworkManagerDispatcher services. Use "chkconfig --list NetworkManager" and "chkconfig --list NetworkManagerDisplatcher" to see if they are properly installed and started. If they are, then all you need to do is run nm-applet in your X11 session and the applet should appear in your system notification part of your taskbar. Then all you need to do is click on it to see what wireless networks it finds, and select one of them to connect to.

I just double checked. Sometime between FC6 and F9 Preview, NetworkManagerDispatcher seems to have disappeared (thank goodness!).
So, that's one less thing to have to worry about.

Also, if your access point uses WPA style security, you may also need to have the wpa_supplicant RPM installed. This doesn't want to be run as a service if you're using NetworkManager, as NM will start it when it is needed automagically.

Clear as mud yet?
