system requirements for Fedora 9

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Dear all,

I know that the release notes have not come out, but I
want to find out what are the bare minimum
requirements to get Fedora 9 installed onto a
computer.

I have seen Ubuntu 8.0.4 LTS (Hardy Heron) being
released and they have a page with the system
requirements:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SystemRequirements

I looked for the Fedora equivalent page but the
closest I have found is

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Docs/Beats/ArchSpecific

but it only specifies for installation purposes. I
would like to know the requirements because several of
my friends have become interested in linux and I told
them to install Fedora, one already installed *buntu
and he is loving it.

What are the requirements for KDE?

for Gnome?

XFce?

other DE if they also count?

Would Fedora 9 work ok with a machine with the
following specs

cat /proc/cpuinfo

would a machine like this one run Fedora 9 ok or is
better to try something like Xubuntu?

I would like your recommendations for a friend.

Thanks in Advance,
