I'm afraid the calendar is part of the reality. Fedora can't slip weeks or even
months just for KDE 4, there's many other new things waiting to be released.
And upgrading KDE from 3.5.x to 4.x.x within a release would be a really bad
idea, so the next opportunity would have been Fedora 10, which IMHO is really
too late. And anyway, I consider the current KDE 4 releasable, so I don't see
the necessity.

And Fedora 9 slipped 2 weeks (from April 29 to May 13) anyway for other
reasons, you can count on us using those 2 extra weeks to get as many bugfixes
as possible in. The upstream bugfix release KDE 4.0.4 is also around the
corner, we will evaluate the best way to provide that to Fedora 9 users
together with Release Engineering. (If we can't get it into the release, count
on it to become available as a post-release update as soon as possible,
possibly even on release day.)
