Maybe use yum? Were those files installed by rpm? If you installed them some other way rpm doesn't know about them. To find out, rpm -qf <full path to>libstdc++.so.5 If they were installed by rpm but it "forgot" them, rebuild the rpm database. If rpm never touched them, then use yum or rpm to reinstall them. Try to avoid having two versions active at once, one installed by rpm, other installed by some other method. Best to stick with rpm for all installs, if at all possible.
