Hey I just figured it out. I had two interfaces eth0 and eth0:1. My linux workstation was on eth0 network while my cisco switch was on the eth0:1 interface. After I removed eth0 and replaced it with eth0:1 i.e mv ifcfg-eth0:1 ifcfg-eth0 and ammended the config file the tftp copy command worked. Is there something that is happening here that I'm not aware of, why doesn tftp only work on the first configured interface i.e eth0 and not eth0:1? Any feedback would be appreciated. I hope this helps someone if they get into the same difficulty.
