You don't have to understand selinux in order to benefit from it.
And people not understanding it isn't equivalent to desktop systems.
It IS most definitely suitable for desktop use. It might not be
suitable for some classes of people who do things that might commonly
trigger problems, but don't know what to do when they come up. But there
are ongoing improvements it making it easier for people to figure out
what to do.
