 Just maybe the problem that was existing, cropped up when you used the
socket. Get one of those socket testers to see if the polarity of the
plug wasn't compromised during the re-wire job. That's all it would take
to really screw things up. Those testers will also check your ground. A
refrigerator plugged into an ass-backwards socket will spike just about
everything in the house and they tend to run a lot of the time. Some
electricians are no better than professional wire-strippers. A socket
tester is always a good thing to have in your kitchen hardware drawer.
