I'm not convinced of the value of the plugin. I've been trying it for
several months. For example, mirror.steadfast.net is "fastest" when
updating our office. It's only a couple of hops away down AT&T's wire.
The download speeds from that mirror, however, are horrible.  I've seen
yum estimate about 5 minutes per MB.  (We connect via DS3.)  When I turn
off fastestmirror, downloads come from other mirrors at what I consider
~ normal speeds.
