Moving your disk isn't going to work in fedora either without a lot of
contortions if your new disk controller needs a different driver.
Never been a problem for me - I just have to remember to re-enable kudzu
before I do it (I turn off kudzu post install)
IDE drives mostly (all?) use the same driver. Try moving a scsi drive
between different controler brands or even models.
