That has to be the toughest lesson in the world. I had a passel of
problems with relationship with my Father. A great man in my eyes. He
held first-line signature status on patents for the first working
nuclear core designs that didn't go critical, using the "honey-comb"
approach for Atomic Industries in DC, back when in the early 50's.

Seeing him decline was a pure bitch for me. His anger management issues
were another bitch for me as a child. But, I'd be the first to want to
bust someone in the mouth if they personally denigrated him. So, decorum
is good. For everyone.

It's hard to hurt someone without first "labeling" them... the process
is called "objectification". Practically every guy and women in "da
joint" first labeled their victim, so as to offend them after.
"Objectification" is the first step. "Victimization" is the second step.
I'd hate like hell for anyone on this list to participate in our prison
work shops because they have to, via a court order. It just takes one
brain fart (cognitive distortion) to get there. Just one. So, I'd plea
for someone not to take the first step, with the second looming largely.
