That's true. Every second of his mails sounds negative and pessimistic. But the overall message is weak. It's history for the majority of users, because nowadays they use package tools. And even a few years back, you could avoid dependency hell easily with the help of "rpm --aid ..." and the redhat-rpmdb package already. And even without such help, knowing that you could install/updates multiple packages _at once_ was something some vocal people ignored.
