There was a nfs mount hanging. umount -f solved it. Thanks.
I've run into this problem many times:
1. connect vpn
2. access NFS share at work via automount
3. disconnect vpn
4. NFS hangs
5. yum hangs
Now if NetworkManager could tell autofs to umount before
disconnecting VPN...
