play videos on smb server with mplayer

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi All,

Apparently, mplayer can play files on a smb share without the file
system being mounted. I've tried it, but mplayer keeps telling me: "no
stream found to handle url ...". So, either I'm typing the command
incorrectly, or something else is screwed.

Here's what I'm entering on my Fedora Core 7 box (samba is running on a
CentOS 5 server):

mplayer smb://user:password@server/media/videos/misc/blah.wmv

I can play the video just fine if I mount the smb file system.

What's wrong?

Regards,

Ranbir
