Sure but you don't bother to do what you were asked to do.
My speculation, you have vlc and packages from some other repository,
not livna. freshrpms? If you had listed the files, we probably could
figure it out.
enable freshrpms repository again and try to update

OK tried both livna and freshrpm repos and I get exactly the same
thing. After each trial I used "yum clean all" so that it had to go to a
repo. Here is what my yum install vlc gets every time regardless of the
repo:

As you can see it wants to update files not on my F8. It is beyond
my understanding. I think F8 has ghosts :-)
