Yes.  I can see from your headers that your client is inserting the
in-reply-to and references headers.  So your client is doing threading
properly, it's user error.

To me, it's just common sense that I don't press the reply button if I'm
not replying to someone.  Just as I don't play with the print button if
I want a "disc file" copy of a message.  I use programs in the way that
they're obviously designed to work (e.g what the features are named for,
and the manuals describe), not what just seems to do something that I'm
trying to do.  Manual reading and a bit of careful experimenting usually
explains why.
