   I just rebooted my F7 with a new kernel update today and it came 
back up with the Nvidia working fine.

   And this is still fine:

[karl@k5di ~]$ glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: Yes
[karl@k5di ~

So why I wonder did google earth fail?
