I'm not sure if this is a related question, but I am using a WRT54GL, running dd-wrt, as an Access Point. (It is connected to my desktop, which in turn is connected to my ADSL modem.) My problem is getting the WRT54GL to accept a given laptop (using WiFi). It accepts some laptops, and when this happens it works beautifully. The laptop MAC address is then listed on the router web-pages, as you say. But other laptops simply will not connect through the router. (There is never any problem with ethernet connections.) Is there some way of adding a MAC address to the router? I'm running dhcpd on my desktop. It's not really clear to me how the request from a laptop gets through the router to the desktop. To get concrete, here is the entry in /var/log/messages on the desktop for a successful WiFi link: ------------------------------ Jan 7 21:18:06 alfred dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 192.168.2.4 (192.168.2.1) from 00:15:00:16:2a:ea via eth1 Jan 7 21:18:06 alfred dhcpd: DHCPACK on 192.168.2.4 to 00:15:00:16:2a:ea via eth1 ------------------------------ The router, whose address is 192.168.2.12, is not mentioned. The desktop is at 192.168.2.1, the laptop at 192.168.2.4. Any advice or enlightenment gratefully received. -- Timothy Murphy e-mail (<80k only): tim /at/ birdsnest.maths.tcd.ie tel: +353-86-2336090, +353-1-2842366 s-mail: School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list
