Make sure that you open your firewall to ports 5900-59xx, where xx is 05-99
depending on your port usage.  Your firewall may be blocking access to this
port.  I use firestarter as the easiest way to setup and define ports since
iptables was a bit of a mystery to me.  But if you understand iptables then
make sure that you open the above ports and it is up to you to allow or limit
public access.  I have my Vnc ports via firestarter limited to my local LANs.
