My Sandisk is 4 Gbytes. The small amount of space (43 Mbytes as best I
can tell) it consumes doesn't bother me, so I'm happy to leave it.
It really doesn't cause any other problems.
I have had data lost on one drive because unmounting on a Mac is very
questionable. I have accidently unmounted the CD instead of the stick
and removed the stick on a FC4 machine. Again, lost data.
It is the dual icons/mount points that are causing problems. Even on
Windows, it creates two mount points.
