My problem does not involve not being able to boot from a CD or DVD. The
laptop will certainly do that. My problem is that I need specific
firmware for the network card that is not in the live CD/DVD distro.
(One solution would be to put the firmware on the hard drive and somehow
link this with the live CD - but I have no clue on how to do this. The
other possibility is using ndiswrapper but that involves installing it
and firmware - again I don't know how to do that with a live CD.) I'm
going to try to make a bootable USB flash drive - I have one that is 1
gb and that should be enough space.
