Have you compared the mail envelope/headers created by both versions?
Maybe you need sendmail -f to make it work?

set use_envelope_from
set envelope_from_address="..."

Anyway, "rpm --query --docfiles mutt" points to the mutt changelog and
upgrade notes. And "rpm --query --changelog mutt" displays the package
changelog.
