Thanks for the reply

I have tried to sort out what is happening and have tried Xephyr

There are two other threads that are having problems 
F8 and NX server
F8 remote X display (lack thereof)

Not sure if they are related.

Anyway :
I have used Xnest, X and Xephyr and saved
/var/log/messages as shown below
fuerte is the localhost

Very nasty segfaults !!

Any thoughts?
