If the docs are in error they should be corrected. "static" should be documented since that's what the installer uses and how most systems get configured at the outset. The docs should be modified to state that anything OTHER THAN "bootp" or "dhcp" force a static IP to be used. It also might be nice to note that "bootp" and "dhcp" are not the same protocols.
