You might want to play with gconf-editor and turn off the options for using Nautilus to draw the desktop: /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop (it's a boolean tickbox) That's the path with the gconf editor, not a file path. -- (This computer runs FC7, my others run FC4, FC5 & FC6, in case that's important to the thread.)
