Goto system-->preferences-->Look and Feel-->Main Menu
>From the menus subwindow on the left, navigate to the menu or submenu
that you want to get rid of, click it and then uncheck the show box in
the right subwindow.  You can also delete it using either the delete or
the backspace key (I'm not sure which).
