There's an organization that re-spins install images with updates included, but I can't recall where they are. You can search the archives of this list to find them. Does your BIOS offer a compatibility mode for the ATAPI/IDE controller? If so, give that a try. I had a similar problem with a ThinkPad T61 and that solved the install problem. Once I had completed updates, I switched back to AHCI mode and it worked fine. > > > Thanks > > > > > > > > Aaron Konstam wrote: > > > > On Wed, 2007-10-24 at 22:37 -0700, Tracy12 wrote: > >> When I tried the live CD, it gives the message "Cannot find root file > >> system!" > >> create symlink /dev/root and then exit this shell to continue the boot > >> sequence..... > >> > > create a symlink of what to /dev/root or /dev/root to what? > >> > >> Why this is such a big issue, Has anyone got this issue and install FC7 > >> successfully on a notebook. > > > > -- > > ======================================================================= > > Biology is the only science in which multiplication means the same thing > > as division. > > ======================================================================= > > Aaron Konstam telephone: (210) 656-0355 e-mail: akonstam@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > > > > -- > > fedora-list mailing list > > fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx > > To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list > > > > > -- Matthew Saltzman Clemson University Math Sciences mjs AT clemson DOT edu http://www.math.clemson.edu/~mjs -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list
