Okay, this is not a Linux related problem. I was just hoping for a Linux
related solution.

I have some Windows XP boxes at home that I would like to backup to my
Linux Samba server. I have tried using a live CD and a program called
partimage. This was exactly the thing I was looking for but unfortunately
it failed. Partimage does not like my Windows XP. The project also looks
kinda dead so I can't really hope for a new release to fix my woes.

I have an old version of Norton Ghost that I purchased many years ago. I
could make a DOS boot disk and go that route but I was hoping for a
better, more open solution.

So, the question is, what is everyone else using to create images of their
machines?

I have never used this to create images but if you want to perform backups try Bacula
