I've been itching to try the latest eclipse, but my development machine at work is FC6. Simply upgrading the OS is not really an option at this point since I doubt my boss would appreciate the downtime while I reconstruct my desktop and get everything working. So, on a crazy whim I typed: # yum --enablerepo=development update eclipse-cdt after thinking about it for quite some time, yum came back and offered to actually do it: Dependencies Resolved ============================================================================= Package Arch Version Repository Size ============================================================================= Updating: eclipse-cdt x86_64 1:4.0.1-1.fc8 development 38 M Installing for dependencies: eclipse-cvs-client x86_64 1:3.3.0-26.fc8 development 3.9 M fedora-usermgmt noarch 0.10-1.fc8 development 7.0 k fedora-usermgmt-core noarch 0.10-1.fc8 development 8.2 k fedora-usermgmt-default-fedora-setup noarch 0.10-1.fc8 development 6.9 k fedora-usermgmt-shadow-utils noarch 0.10-1.fc8 development 7.8 k icu4j-eclipse x86_64 3.6.1-1jpp.3.fc8 development 6.3 M jakarta-commons-collections-tomcat5 x86_64 3.1-9jpp.2.fc7.1 development 69 k jakarta-commons-dbcp-tomcat5 x86_64 1.2.1-10jpp.2.fc8 development 251 k jakarta-commons-pool-tomcat5 x86_64 1.3-9jpp.3.fc8 development 107 k java-1.5.0-gcj x86_64 1.5.0.0-14.fc7 development 104 k java_cup x86_64 1:0.10-0.k.6jpp.1 development 206 k jetty x86_64 5.1.12-1jpp.7.fc8 development 1.9 M junit4 noarch 4.3.1-1jpp.1.fc8 development 331 k lucene-contrib x86_64 1.9.1-1jpp.5.fc8 development 958 k sinjdoc x86_64 0.5-4.fc7 development 907 k tomcat5-jasper-eclipse x86_64 5.5.23-9jpp.4.fc8 development 4.2 M Updating for dependencies: eclipse-ecj x86_64 1:3.3.0-26.fc8 development 8.5 M eclipse-jdt x86_64 1:3.3.0-26.fc8 development 29 M eclipse-pde-runtime x86_64 1:3.3.0-26.fc8 development 266 k eclipse-platform x86_64 1:3.3.0-26.fc8 development 32 M eclipse-rcp x86_64 1:3.3.0-26.fc8 development 13 M jakarta-commons-el x86_64 1.0-8jpp.2.fc8 development 251 k jakarta-commons-logging x86_64 1.0.4-6jpp.4.fc8 development 110 k jakarta-commons-modeler x86_64 2.0-3jpp.2.fc8 development 289 k jsch x86_64 0.1.31-1jpp.2.fc8 development 378 k libswt3-gtk2 x86_64 1:3.3.0-26.fc8 development 3.9 M lucene x86_64 1.9.1-1jpp.5.fc8 development 1.3 M tomcat5 x86_64 5.5.23-9jpp.4.fc8 development 441 k tomcat5-common-lib x86_64 5.5.23-9jpp.4.fc8 development 206 k tomcat5-jasper x86_64 5.5.23-9jpp.4.fc8 development 1.0 M tomcat5-jsp-2.0-api x86_64 5.5.23-9jpp.4.fc8 development 97 k tomcat5-server-lib x86_64 5.5.23-9jpp.4.fc8 development 3.7 M tomcat5-servlet-2.4-api x86_64 5.5.23-9jpp.4.fc8 development 154 k Transaction Summary ============================================================================= Install 16 Package(s) Update 18 Package(s) Remove 0 Package(s) Total download size: 152 M Is this ok [y/N]: So there it is, the shiny yes/no prompt just sitting there like the history eraser button tempting me to answer yes.
