I've just tried to connect my LaCie disk up to my Fedora box (Intel Duo2

21:50:50 EDT 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

but it's not happy with the Firewire 400 connect. All I can see of
relevance in /var/log/messages is:

	Oct 3 14:49:37 veri kernel: firewire_core: giving up on config rom for

Looking about I see that there's been some issues re Firewire and FC7
but does anybody know if it's been fixed or how I can use my LaCie box?

Thanks, M

Michael,

I just saw your email.

I have an external Maxtor harddisk connected to my
computer via firewire 400.

$ /sbin/lspci
01:08.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments TSB12LV26 IEEE-1394 Controller (Link)

$ uname -a
Linux netblock-68-183-228-148.dslextreme.com 2.6.22.9-91.fc7 #1 SMP Thu Sep 27 23:10:59 EDT 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

If I remember correctly, I unstalled a pci card
in my VA Linux 420 box, plugged the Maxtor into
the firewire and everything worked. I did this
recently - a few months ago when I still had
Fedora Core 3 still installed. Once I had the
external drive connected I installed Fedora 7.

It sounds like you are having a different problem.
