I'm bitterly disappointed nobody's had any input. Is this because nobody
else has seen a problem with firewire (in which case tell me your
set-up!) or everybody else puts up with it not working (in which case at
least let me know I'm not alone)

I know you're alive - I've seen the numerous emails debating FC8's name
(!)
