Not all of the mirrors are up to date, some are much slower than others. You will have used more than one mirror. You get a different mirror (almost) each time: If you run yum more than once, within a short timespan, that particular instance will use the same mirror (it'll use the last answer it got, it won't ask for another mirror address). Running yum on another computer will probably get told to use a different mirror. -- (This box runs FC5, my others run FC4 & FC6, in case that's important to the thread.)
