One one of my systems the motherboard beeper didn't get used for beeping once the system booted past a certain stage. The traditional CTRL+G "bell" noise was a sound sample played through the sound card, rather than beeping the beeper. I've another that does both. Getting the motherboard to beep makes both the beeper beep, and a tone to go through the sound card. -- [tim@bigblack ~]$ uname -ipr 2.6.22.4-65.fc7 i686 i386 Using FC 4, 5, 6 & 7, plus CentOS 5.
