Interesting : yum added pyparted, which I've never heard of, even
on yum nor pirut, as a dependency :

Installed: hwbrowser.noarch 0:0.33-1.fc7
Dependency Installed: pyparted.i386 0:1.8.5-4.fc7
Complete!

YES! That's the one I can at least make some sense of. Many
thanks!

I don't see one. But I did manage to copy (manually : precise accuracy
not guaranteed) into pine on that machine (#1), and email it to myself --
I think. That was earlier today; it hasn't arrived yet.

Later : I got a copy out of my outbox into my home directory on #1, and
managed to scp it from there to the present machine (#2). That shows the
following:
================================================
"Sound cards" -- not "video card" -- says :

VIA Technologies VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Contro [cut off]

Driver: snd-via82xx

"System devices" lists something Opteron, the printer twice, some sort
of "host controller" five times, things starting with PNP (seventeen of
them), and some other stuff.

Sorry all the kludging took so long!
