Yes, it does take a bit of effort on your part to watch for security
updates, and tell they system to specifically update them. Then
again, you also have to reboot the system for the kernel update to
be affective. It puts the responsibility on you to make sure you
install the kernel security updates. That is your choice to make.
But if you want to make sure updates do not break things, you are
using the wrong distribution. When you are trying to use the wrong
tool for the job, you have to expect it to cause you more work then
using the correct tool.
