That is probably the best way - he is seldom willing to listen to advice that conflicts with his ideas of what is wrong. One thing that I have learned is that it doesn't take too many people like Karl, and people defending his attitude before a list starts losing the "experts" and the level of help available on the list drops drastically. The more people you have that feel they do not need to follow the published guidelines of the list, the more the quality of the list deteriorates. If that is what people want, so be it. I know I have cut way down on the time I spend helping people on the list, and have basically stopped doing research on subjects that I do not have the answer, but know where to look for it.
