I am disappointed to say that the yum-updatesd still does not update
anything. Who does it work for?

I can run yum manually and it does see updates. However, the
yum-updatesd daemon does not appear to find the updates, or it does
not find them. Then it locks up the yum process, as in:

# yum update
Existing lock /var/run/yum.pid: another copy is running as pid 2862. Aborting.

# ps aux | grep yum
root 2862 0.0 5.1 100456 79436 ? SN Aug13 0:06
/usr/bin/python /usr/sbin/yum-updatesd
root 10505 0.0 0.0 4012 712 pts/0 S+ 13:31 0:00 grep yum

That yum-updatesd has been running since yesterday, it seems unlikely
it will ever do anything. So

# ps aux | grep yum
root 2862 0.0 5.1 100456 79436 ? SN Aug13 0:06
/usr/bin/python /usr/sbin/yum-updatesd
root 10505 0.0 0.0 4012 712 pts/0 S+ 13:31 0:00 grep yum
# yum update

yum-updatesd must be working for somebody, or else it seems there
would be more conversation about it. But I have not been able to find
anybody for whom it does work!
