cups

It occured to me that since I replaced both the cups and the udev at the same time, I should put the cups update back on my computer and do some checking. So I yum installed cups with this:

Install 0 Package(s)
Update 2 Package(s)
Remove 0 Package(s)

Total download size: 3.2 M
Is this ok [y/N]: y

Complete!
[root@k5di ~]#

So now the only thing to do is reboot and see what still works.
Well I brought up http://localhost:631/ and the printer was there working according to the page using /dev/lp0. So with a terminal I did:

[karl@k5di ~]$ cd /dev
[karl@k5di dev]$ ls /dev/lp*
/dev/lp0
[karl@k5di dev]$

It appears that udev has loaded just lp0 onto /dev which is fine since that is what we are using. So the next thing is to print something and I will print this note.

OK the printer worked just perfect! So the updated cups has zero to do with the problem. Anyone who deleted the updated cups can do what I did above.
