binary compatibility problems with lesstif

Does anyone know if any progress is being made on the
license issues with openmotif? I am having no luck substituting
lesstif's libXm.so.2 for that of true openmotif. Specifically,
the Felix 2004 NMR analysis software from Accelrys (and now
FelixNMR) segfaults under lesstif with the error...

>felixX: Symbol `_XmStrings' has different size in shared object, consider
re-linking
>Executing: '/usr/accelrys/Felix2004/macros/felix/menus/mac/init.mac'
>Xt Error: Widget title has zero width and/or height
>Xt Error: Widget right has zero width and/or height
>Xt Error: Widget left has zero width and/or height
>Xt Error: Widget bottom has zero width and/or height
>Xt Error: Widget top has zero width and/or height

Adding the libXm.so.2 from openmotif to Felix 2004's lib directory
(so it is used instead of lesstif's) eliminates the problem under
Fedora 7. Frankly, I would have been more impressed by Fedora's
decision to drop openmotif if it had extended to their RHEL 5
product. Instead, since RHEL 5 retains openmotif, it appears more
like a cheap ploy to degrade the functionality of Fedora and
make RHEL more attractive in the process. Lesstif's web site
clearly states that they 'aim' for binary compatibility but haven't
achieved it yet. If Fedora is going to force lesstif onto its
users, it ought step up and commit the resources to help make
it binary compatible with openmotif.

ps I have filed this bug under both the Fedora bugzilla...

and under the lesstif bugzilla...
