update, Karl, but why start with yet another subject line? Just
reply to one of the previous postings. Does your email program
handle threads? I start to suspect not. ~~R
THIRD, I think I can count a few more than that.
At least, now we know it was CUPS that broke.

No. I think the cups update is fine. It was the udev update that
stopped udev from making /dev/lp0 which caused my problem. There is a
bug in on this problem and it is active.
